What is English for Specific Purposes?
These courses offer tuition in English for specific purposes - such as English for the healthcare profession or other highly specialised professions.
You may want to decide to book an ESP course if:
- you are preparing for an interview at an academic institution where you want to do a post-graduate course (such as an MBA)
- you are a healthcare practitioner or a pharmacist interested in working in the UK or the US and you would like to brush up on your English
- you are a healthcare practitioner or a pharmacist wishing to take the UBELT exam (University of Bath English Language Test).
- your job requires you to speak English and you would like us to prepare a course for you that would teach you the language used in your industry.
- you work within the legal profession and you are thinking of taking Cambridge ILEC (International Legal English Certificate) exam.
- you work in a financial sector and you are interested in taking Cambridge ICFE (International Certificate in Financial English) exam.
- you need to improve your English, but all available courses don't seem to meet your specific needs
How long is the lesson?
All lessons are 60 minutes long.

The length of the course entirely depends on your initial level and the goals you want to reach.
We suggest that you book a free consultation with us so that we can advise you on the best option for you.
Do I need to buy a course book?
We try to provide most of the materials ourselves, but with some courses (and all of the exam courses) students may be asked to purchase additional materials, course books, etc.
Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?
If you would like, we can send you a certificate in a PDF form stating that you have completed a course with Ad_Lib English, having received a give number of hours of tuition.
Please be aware, however, that this certificate will not be recognized by schools, universities, and most employers as a valid proof of your language abilities.
If you need such proof - for example in order to be accepted at a university in the UK or the US - you will need to take one of the internationally recognized exams.
How much does it cost?
All lessons take place 1-to-1 (just you and your tutor).
Please note: For some of the specialist exam courses, the students may be required to purchase additional materials such as course books, books of tests, etc.
